The dance group, known as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ndtv.com\/world-news\/watch-russian-berezka-dancers-magically-float-on-the-stage-3528057\">Berezka Dance Ensemble<\/a>, appear on stage with huge dress skirts that completely cover their feet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s as if their legs are not moving at all. Also, all the girls are perfectly in sync to the point that they don\u2019t seem real, rather like life-like animatronics. And no one can seem to crack how the dancers are doing it!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So let\u2019s break down everything we know about this dance routine and the performing group.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1. They\u2019re performing the traditional dance of <a href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/article\/trending\/trending-globally\/russian-dance-group-mayuri-indian-dance-group-indian-culture-russia-6336244\/\">Berezka<\/a>.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s not magic or a machine making them move so effortlessly and robotically. It\u2019s actually just the dancers taking <a href=\"https:\/\/www.firstpost.com\/world\/watch-floating-performance-by-russian-berezka-dancers-stuns-internet-11647991.html\">mini and quick<\/a> steps, which are hidden by their huge dress skirts. This, combined with being completely in sync with one another, gives audiences the illusion that these dancers are floating on top of the stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4. This movement became the dance group&#8217;s trademark. <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The &#8220;Berezka&#8221; dance is now an iconic move of this dance group.\u00a0It is very hard to replicate and takes a lot of training to nail the move.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>5. The dance is a &#8220;secret of the firm.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When founder Nadezhda Nadezhdina was asked about how this technical dance is learned and perfected to create the floating illusion, she said: \u201cThat&#8217;s a secret of the firm.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She explained the technical side of the dance that is now known in the Soviet Union as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/1972\/09\/20\/archives\/beryozka-dancers-to-glide-in-tonight.html\">\u201cBeryozka step.<\/a>\u201d However, she even expressed that not even all their dancers can do it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou have to move in very small steps on a very low half-toe with the body held in a certain corresponding position,\u201d Nadezhda told the New York Times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Amazing Russian Floating Folk Dance &quot;Birch Tree \/ Beryozka&quot;\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gwbcTYQ84dU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Yikes. While this dance sounds easy to perform \u2013 and many may think that the long skirts would help make the moves easier to execute \u2013 it is way more difficult than anyone expects.
